About us

A little bit about Soul Sanctuary

Soul Sanctuary is a 19.6-acre forested site currently in the process of becoming a neighborwood with space for food growing and foraging, therapeutic and forest bathing activities, sacred dance. healing rituals, and educational activities to increase awareness of the benefits of nature to human health and well-being.  This we believe will be of enormous benefit to the local community and in particular the nearest town of Gorey and the growing youth population there.

Soul Sanctuary can help address the challenges faced by society from a physical, mental, as well as emotional perspective, and will provide people with the opportunities, education, and facilities enabling them to improve/ maintain their overall sense of well-being, including an emphasis on sustenance, physical activity, and emotional/spiritual factors.

What we're trying to achieve

We hope to address societal issues in relation to lack of connection with nature, including physical and mental health. These issues have contributed to great challenges for society in the past number of years, and have been thrown into sharp relief during the pandemic. Our aim is to facilitate and enhance the connection to, and interaction with the natural world.

Helping individuals interact on a regular and consistent basis with nature is a scientifically proven way to provide holistic benefits on a physical, mental, emotional, as well as spiritual level.

How will this work

This enterprise will work by providing people with the space, the opportunity, and the facilities they need to increase and improve physical activity and mental well-being, being immersed in a unique forested setting with the choice of activities while there. There will also be opportunities to learn about space and all life that lives and grows within that space.

The enterprise will provide the opportunity to learn about food foraging and growing, and the links between food and well-being. The emphasis will be on fresh, organic food, grown and produced on-site, and ideally (in time) cooked on site. Foods will include, in time, honey grown from Soul Sanctuary bees kept on site, as well as vegetables from our vegetable garden. Income will be generated from attendance fees for activities, from sale of food, and possibly from crafts produced on-site.

We are not for profit organization and all income generated from attendance fees for activities, sale of food, and any crafts produced on site will be used for the upkeeping and maintenance of the forest and enhance the activities offered.
